Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Policy

Kern River's Family Medical Leave Policy complies with all applicable federal and state laws. In general, family medical leave will be administered according to the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993 and the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008. The administration of this policy complies with applicable state law where such state law provides a greater benefit. FMLA does not affect any federal or state law prohibiting discrimination or supersede any state or local law that provides greater family or medical leave rights.

For a summary of employee rights and responsibilities and military leave entitlements under FMLA and the National Defense Authorization Act, review Appendix C-WH Publication 1420 provided by the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor.
